Experienced professionals, committed to lowering the carbon footprint of live events.

Our history

For the past five years, Sam Simmons and Peter Winer have been planning and executing a roadmap to bring temporary events fully online.

Sam is a site director and event producer with hands-on experience across many of the world’s most significant music festivals, including Coachella, Ohana, Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, and many others. Peter is a software industry veteran with a long track record of building innovative products and founding successful companies.

In early 2020, the team identified a clear opportunity: event producers were still relying heavily on paper plans, sharpie pens, long meetings, and error-prone workflows.

Together, Sam and Peter conceived Skyfall—an internet-based platform for venue design and event operations. Skyfall enabled producers to move to online collaboration, interactive venue design on maps, and real-time telemetry to monitor infrastructure and live events.

Our achievements

By mid-2022, Skyfall had been deployed at approximately 25 major festivals in the US and UK, working with organizations including Live Nation, Red Rock Productions, Insomniac, Danny Wimmer Presents, Festival Republic, AEG Worldwide, and Goldenvoice.

In September 2022, Skyfall was acquired by CES Power. Sam became CTO of CES Power and CEO of CES Technologies, while Peter joined as Head of Software for CES Technologies.

Over the next two years, Sam and Peter worked closely with CES Power to expand Skyfall’s reach across festivals, sporting events, and audiovisual production sites. During this period, the platform gained deeper telemetry capabilities and stronger integrations with CAD tools, drone scans, and enterprise systems. Skyfall became a leading solution for designing and operating large-scale temporary events.

Sam and Peter concluded their roles at CES Power in mid-2024.

Work began on the Green Sparks platform in early 2025.

Peter Winer

Peter Winer is a software industry veteran with a long history of building innovative products and founding successful companies in a wide range of roles. Remarkably, Peter has been involved in more than 50 notable startups.

A native of New York City, Peter was educated at Bronx High School of Science, Columbia University, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1983 to join the (then secret) Macintosh project.

In 2016, Peter and his family relocated to London to be closer to family and friends and to embrace big-city life and cultural diversity. Peter is now a dual US–UK citizen and resides permanently in London.

Sam Simmons

Sam Simmons is a UK citizen who has lived in Southern California since 2007. He arrived as a teenager with a clear ambition: to work in the music industry.

Sam worked his way up through tour management and event operations while developing a deep expertise in CAD drafting and site planning. Today, he designs and delivers site plans for multiple large-scale music festivals and complex event operations.

Through years of firsthand experience, Sam learned the operational pain points faced by festival producers. This insight shaped his vision for technology that streamlines operations, improves communication, and enables presenters to deliver more value and achieve higher profitability.

In recent years, Sam has focused on interactive online maps for festival operators. Skyfall maps enabled faster design, simpler revisions, and clearer collaboration with partners. That vision—greater interactivity, flexibility, and deeper integration—continues to drive Green Sparks today.
