Our History

From paper plans to online event operations.

In early 2020, Sam Simmons and Peter Winer identified a persistent problem in live event production: even sophisticated producers were still running power operations on paper plans, sharpie pens, and error-prone manual workflows.

Together they built Skyfall — an internet-based platform for venue design and event operations. Skyfall moved producers onto interactive online maps, real-time collaboration, and live telemetry for monitoring temporary power infrastructure.

Our Achievements

Field-tested across major festivals and temporary sites.

By mid-2022, Skyfall had been deployed at approximately 25 major festivals across the US and UK, with organizations including Live Nation, AEG, Festival Republic, Goldenvoice, and Red Rock Entertainment.

In 2022, the platform was acquired by CES Power. Sam and Peter expanded it across festivals, sporting events, and audiovisual production sites — adding deeper telemetry and stronger integrations. They completed that work in mid-2024. GreenSparks began in early 2025.

Peter Winer

Peter is a software industry veteran who has spent his career building technology products and founding companies across multiple domains. He has been involved in more than 50 startups — from the original Macintosh project in 1983 through decades of product development.

At Skyfall, Peter combined that product background with firsthand experience in live event operations — working on venue design, site planning, and real-time telemetry with major festival organizations across the US and UK. GreenSparks carries that work forward.

Peter was educated at Bronx High School of Science, Columbia University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a dual US-UK citizen based in London.

Sam Simmons

Sam Simmons is a UK citizen who has lived in Southern California since 2007. He arrived as a teenager with a clear ambition to work in the music industry, and built his career up through tour management and event operations, developing deep expertise in CAD drafting and site planning.

Today he designs and delivers site plans for major festivals and complex event productions. Through years of firsthand experience, he developed a precise understanding of the operational problems festival producers face — and a clear vision for technology that could solve them.

At Skyfall, Sam led the development of interactive online maps for festival operators — enabling faster design, simpler revisions, and clearer collaboration between producers, vendors, and site teams. That same vision of deeper integration and real operational intelligence drives GreenSparks today.
